Now that we have the framework for this fable we need more character development. perhaps there was a moment when a transformation happened and innocence was lost... or maybe an incident brought out latent aggressive tendencies. Was the feeling of betrayl so powerful that it washed away the memories of better times? does it prevent such things from happening again?
will justice prevail?

A few lowlights from part 2:

They lie to Thrifty.

Thrifty loses money.

Thrifty doesn't get picked up at the airport.

Thrifty meets the wicked witch.

let me add a bit:
Thrifty boarded a magic dragon after paying it his last few beans, and flew to the Queen of Cities, far, far away. After many hours, the dragon landed. Thrifty was amazed and not a little afraid; darkness was falling, and the Queen of Cities seemed to be covered in a strange, foul-smelling cloud, and from the cloud came a low, continuous roar. He wandered through the Magic Portal to the Queen of Cities, having had his bags checked by the Gnome Keepers, who kept on tripping over their long, long moustaches. Thrifty noticed that there were statues of the same man all over the place: He looked stern, with high cheekbones and blazing blue eyes.
'Who is that?' Thrifty asked in wonder to one of the gnomes.
'That is The Wizard', replied the gnome, er, gnomically. 'He watches over us al the time. He is our Great Leader.'
'Where does he live?'
'In our hearts!'
Thrifty had on a scrap of parchment the name of the person he needed to contact, one who worked for the mysterious Emit Hsilgne. He expected them to meet him at the Magic Portal, so he waited, and waited, and waited. But no-one came. Thrifty began to feel a little afraid....
How's that so far?

Thrifty hadn't travelled outside his village before-only as far as the forest which was half an hour from the village.

he got a job as a sheppard in a large chain of farms. At first everything was so good but after a while he got bored and started to entartain himself by calling out 'wolf'. People from nearby villagers came to rescue them but found that the alarms were false. One day Thrifty .........

I remember a while back a Canadian posted that he and the girlfriend wanted to come to Turkey, and asked for advice. They got one-sided "happy happy joy bliss come to Turkey" posts.

They came.

Not long after they posted that they hated their school, had trouble with pay and would promptly do a runner and get out of Turkey.

Working in Turkey has two sides. I am glad there is someone who will post the other side.

Those two Canadians trusted what we said and they were let down, I think, and Thrifty is heavy handed but a lot of what he posts about schools isn't "crying wolf".

Thrifty, the truth comes out. You are an other wannabe writer. EFL not good enough for you? Wink

The only thing worse than my writing is me holding my drink.

Writer-I have seen too much of the TEFLer fantasist to even go there.
