Hello,

Upon renewing a 3 year working Visa, does the applicant have to submit supporting documents again (diploma etc) to immigration - or is it a simple process of just updating address etc?

I just renewed my visa in July. I needed to bring:
contract
picture
passport
alien card
money

I didn't need my diplomas and make sure you get a multiple entry permit too if you plan to go out of the country a couple of times. Altogether it's 10,000 yen for the visa and permit. Real simple, they did it in 2 days for me because I was in a rush.

Hello all,

Within what period of time, relative to the expiration of a visa, can a
visa be renewed? For example, if it expires December 31, can it only be
renewed, say, after September or October 31?

It needs to be renewed before the expiry date. The sooner you get your renewal information from your company, the sooner you can renew.
