Okay, so I finally got my visa today and I am pretty much ready to leave (9 days), but I noticed something and I am very confused. In the space where it says "Length of stay", it does list that I will be staying for a year. But, in the space that says "Expiry date", it states it expires on 9.29.06 - which is obviously less than a year. Now, I obtained the visa with a certificate of eligibility and I know that those state you must have entered the country within 3 months for it to be valid...is that what that expiry date means?

I'm no expert but I think that the visa has to be activated by that date. Meaning you have to be in Japan and register as an foreigner and all that. I think it's when you go through airport immigration that you get another little sticker in your passport with a new expiration date.

Yeah, it's just the time period by which you have to enter Japan and get registered. My lovely check-in assistant at the airport decided to freak me out by telling me my visa was only valid for 3 months.... Shocked
