Hey I know this is a forum for teaching but I was just wondering if any one could be of any help or point me in the right direction. Im going over to Abu Dhabi teaching in September. I have a friend who is really interested in working in the UAE in the construction industry. They have only just graduated in Construction Health and Safety and know it is very difficult to find work without experience over there. Does any one know of any good websites or would ya reccomend them going over and looking for a job? OR would it all be a waste of time? Know thats alot of questions and have been looking up stuff myself but havent found much. Thanks for any help

Once you get to the Emirates and see the construction business there, you will see why your message made me chuckle a bit. Not something that one should really laugh about, but Construction Health and Safety is so far from the mind of construction companies in the Emirates as to be non-existant. Workers are mostly subcontinentals who are worked sunrise to sunset 7 days a week and if they die - and they do regularly - we just import new ones. Oh and be careful about walking near construction sites or even parking near them... cranes fall regularly as does other construction debris.

Tell them not to waste their time... Crying or Very sad

Unless he could be hired by a Western company outside the country, I would say that his chances are slim and none. He would need to know Urdu and Hindi and probably Arabic to function on the job too BTW...

Well, let him first come to Abu Dhabi and then he can look for jobs. Abu Dhabi is a booming city; there are tens and tens of construction projects. The best site is www. gulfjobs.com or just go to google and type the phrase and i am sure you get the right wibsite. Good luck
