I would like to know which is better in terms of vacationing. I will be travelling with my dad (60 years old). In total there will be 6 people in our group. Age range of 27 to 60. I would like something that is good for beaches and yet still be able to experience the Thai culture. Most of us are beach whores and like to lie around and do sweet f*@k all. Alos a place that has a bit of a nightlife decent restaurants and bars. But I am not looking for any of the go-go girl bars. Clean decent fun.
Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

I like Phuket.
In my opinion, there is more variety in terms of beaches, restaurants, places to visit and explore in Phuket. |

ditto miyazaki.
I liked it so much - I moved here . . .
Try the Kata Beach area:

I like the Kata Beach Resort - the best beach on the island - the best breakfast buffet on the island - and a great little cafe overlooking the best beach - where you can sip a beer and watch the people walk buy. Plenty of good restaurants and bars within easy walking distance (even for us old guys). |

| I'll second that last post. I spent a week there last year and plan to go again soon. |

Hi
Can I ask is anyone teaching in Koh Samui? My ex boyfriends brother was there for nearly a year and said it was really beautiful. I really want to find more info about teaching there (he was scuba diving or something).
I have heard Phuket is nice too, can you maybe give me a few tips on that.
Would be great if you could help me thanks. |

| I've been to Koh Samui on a few occasions but didn't meet up with any English teachers there. I did, however, meet several Europeans working there as dive instructors. The salaries they received were hardly enough to live on so depended on disability pensions from their homeland. |

Thanks for your reply but the web page you gave me didn't really help me too much. The place looks beautiful though no wonder you moved there. |
