Yes I've experianed the same thing over the years of living in country. The exploitation at the markets, no one on the university bus taking a seat with me and so on.

Face the truth, the Chinese and the powers that be, want the people to belive that the advancement and prosperity that we see are totally Chinese acheivements. Unless a foreigner does something outlandeshly overwhelming for chinese society he or she will not be recognized in any way. In fact even English should be taught by chinese staff. We are only here for the perfection of pronunciation of the language that the chinese cannot acomplish. The chinese also intensly resent that fact, not to mention the money which is more than some komrads are making with 20 years of service to the "people". Fellow teachers wake up and smell the coffee.

Don't take it too hard its just business its not personel. They only see us as a way to learn about the west and use the knowledge gleened from us as a tool to complete their goal of economic domination, by education of the next generation.

Learn to see through the lies and deceptions, actions speak louder than words. Good luck to you all.
