If you could be bothered to go to a search engine and type in "HSBC" you would find that ythis is the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. It is one of the biggest banking conglomerates in the world.

Yeah... but what are forums for but to ask dumb questions and get uptight replies. Wink

Personally though Scot, I was thinking that if Gordon doesn't know what HSBC means, he probably should just stick his cash in his mattress Wink

You mean futon don't you? Rolling Eyes

Found the HSBC site and the rates are atrocious. The U.S. savings account is practically nil. Under my futon is better.

Money?!?!? It's such a novel concept for me, after a couple of years earning about $250/month in the beautiful Czech Republic and then being in school. In just two short months, I will have to start repaying my loans. In the meantime, I am just ecstatic to have some disposable income--"You mean I can actually buy a CD?!?!? NO WAY, MAN!!!" Savings & property & investments aren't even in the picture.

Amen.

PS I've spent all my savings. Plus everything I make until 2005 or so.

This might be a touch radical for some of you cats, but...

Online poker accounts earn upwards of 10% interest.

Cheers!

(They do tend to vanish from time to time, however...)
