| Another question for those of you who have lived in various locales. Which spot was/is your favorite? Matter of factly, feel free to add your favorite place in Japan even if you just went for a visit. Please note: I'm referring to favorite area, city, town, etc. not your favorite diner, karaoke bar, etc. Arigatouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. |

| Nagamachi and Katamachi in the heart of downtown Kanazawa in the Ishikawa prefecture. I can't explain why, but the atomosphere is excellent; a wonderful mixture of old and modern Japan. Kenroku-en, which is very close by, is also amazing. |

One of them is Babadani Onsen in the Kurobe Gorge.
Another is Niijima.
And Kurigamine. |

| Rishiri to, am island off the north western tip of Hokkaido. Lovely place. Stunning mountain. Great free camping. Can cycle around the island for a spectacular day out. |

IMHO, Both as a student and worker I have live in Shiga, Kanto Area, Gifu, and Osaka. I would say Osaka was my favorite. Lots to do. Not much that can't be found in Osaka that you find in Tokyo. Bars and night life are on par. Not far away from other non-city things like hiking, sailing, and such. But not much in the line of skiing or snowboarding.
If you like skiing or snowboarding Norhtern Kanto is close by many ski resorts and still close enough to Tokyo to due either in a day. I have been to many resorts in Gunma, Nagano, and Niigata all in a day. |

| Sapporo is an awesome city, not too big, not too small. It has great atmosphere and night life. There's great skiing near by. |

I've spent time in Nagoya, Takatsuki (halfway between Osaka and Kyoto) and Izumo.
And so far, Takatsuki is the most amazing place of the three. I loved every minute there. I didn't want to leave, and I hope I can go back to visit that area a few times in the near future.
Great location, great people, some great friends. |

I was totally shocked to see the first two places were in Hokuriku! haha I guess the grass is always greener on the other side? I live right by there and only think they are ok.
My favorite place in Japan is Kyoto. |

Another vote for Kanazawa. Nice city. Not too big. Not too small. Beautiful garden. Easy to get around. Good nightlife. It's probably high on my list of places to consider moving to.
For a day trip, I liked the Tateyama Mountains and Kurobe Dam. Shoomyo Falls, which is the 5th largest waterfall in the world is there. I went to the mountains twice last summer, and am going again in a few weeks.
I asked a similar question in "voice" a few weeks ago. The voice of the people said, "right here...the voice room." I only wish people would have picked up my sarcastic response of, "yeah, it's a great place, isn't it?" |

Favorite spot in Japan? That's easy. The inside of a really funky themed love hotel room, complete with black lights, extra-large jacuzzi tub and mirrored ceilings!  |
