Will be entering the mainland through Hong Kong for the first time. I have searched this forum for hotels near the train station to the mainland but unable to find any answers.

Will someone be so kind to direct me to a decent hotel near the train station. We will be staying for a few days beofre going to new job and want to see some sights.

Any good info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There are many stations in Kowloon where you can catch a train to Mainland China. The main route is the KCRC which has stations in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hung Hom, Mong Kok and Kowloon Tong. At these stations you can catch a train to Lo Wu and change there for the mainland train.
If you want a hotel close to the stations then there are too many to list but look on a website for a hotel you want in your price range. You can usually book online.

The public transport in HK is excellent so you are better off choosing a hotel in an area of HK that you want to visit rather than near the train station, especially as the area around Hung Hom train station is not great for a 2 day visit.
Hotels in Wanchai and Tsim Sha Tsui are well located, but if you want cheaper ones then look in North Point.

I really appreciate the info. We will probably just stay in HK. We had planned on catching the train at the Hung Hum station. Where ever we board the train will we need to transfer trains at Lo Wu? We are working in Dongguan and the train schedule mentions no transfer.

I was hoping for a smooth travel experience since my wife and I will be traveling with our daughter.

I'm not sure if there is an alternative to going through Lo Wu. I went to Dongguan once and that is the way I went.
Another alternative is to go by coach - there are lots of agents in Mong Kok and I don't think it would take much longer.

The Guangdong intercity through train stops at Dongguan so if you're booked on that you won't need to change at Lo Wu.

I agree that you can be flexible about where you stay. Transportation to the Hung Hom station is fairly convenient wherever you are. Also, do you realize the cost of a regular 'hotel' in Hong Kong? You might want to downgrade your options. Any tourist office/outlet will be able to help you get fixed up once you arrive. There are plenty of options here, so don't worry about booking in advance.
