I recently got an offer from the University of Nizwa in the Faculty of Engineering as an Associate Professor. I want some information about the University of Nizwa, especially, the Enginering Faculty. I wonder, if any body in this forum has any information concerning the univesity of Nizwa, vis a vis the following information:
- What is the standard salary for an Associate Professor in Oman?
- Engineering fculty
- Academic facilities (computing, internet, library, etc)
- Administration
- managerial people
- Stability of contract
- Other useful information (good or bad!)
Your information in this regard is much appreciated. |

This board is for EFL teachers, and there are rarely any posters with a PhD, nor do most of us here know anything about their pay or benefits versus what is offered to people in the English Centers. I doubt that there is a 'standard salary' for Associate Professors in Oman - government owned universities would be different from private... SQU may be different from salaries in the interior. You can compare your offer to that of the EFL teachers in Oman which tends to be 600 - 1000 OR + housing a month depending on their credentials and experience.
There is a search mechanism that will bring up discussions of the University of Nizwa. The problems discussed are related to the EFL departments and may or may not be relevent to you. Usually the situation is different in the academic area... normally better... but it is very unlikely that any of our people here know. (another problem is that everyone is traveling in July and August, so few posters are here anyway)
Good Luck

ESL foundation instructors seemed to be getting around 950 riyals/month plus accommodation. I think a Masters is appreciated, but many currently employed there do not have one. |
