thes seems to happen a lot on dave`s; lucky i keep copys.
here it is agean
My Story of ILP
Its a franchise like so many others so I can only talk about there HQ in Pancoran
Two separate branches and corporate offices.
The school known as Pancoran is run by a really good guy and he works hard to keep every one happy, foreign teachers stay for many years one for 7 years others for 2-4 years, Indonesian teachers have come from other offices to work there.
(Thanks to Andre and all the wonderful staff on the 3rd floor its been enjoyable)
But corporate is a deferent story its run by Jone young from Canada, no one works for more than a year she may be a sales man, maybe even a manger but not a manager she told me I would get 10 mil. Well it turned out to be 6-10 thanks to the third floor (very helpful). She says the pay is better but is not after you figure travel time, its not worth the stress. They just hired a go between (Val she shots strait from the hip) to help her to handle the staff
I have worked for them for 1.5 years I was asked to resign 3 months after we singed a new contract (fired no) they just didnt give me any more classes and of coarse you cant work for anyone whale on there visa. The problem Well 4 days after a coworker (Amber Ramah who recently moved up to management) got into an argument with me; I was told she didnt feel comfortable coming to the 3rd floor any more. Humm well I will join the other 3 teachers who have sued them.
24 July 04 update
Many of my students have not returned to ILP, in Dec. there was a fire that destroyed the top floor gave me a worm feeling. ILP contently has very little work in the corporate. Dep. On the 3rd floor they have 3 teachers 2 of witch are at there first teaching job.
It looks like ther on the down hill side of there life.
19 may update
was there in jan to see my friend and DOS he we had a nice chat until Amder cam in and told him to put me out; nice who she can tell other pepole who to run there deparment.
P.S. well like always its not what you know, its who. and see my post "ILP and BAD contricets"
If you want to know more PM me.

!) Willy MOD EDIT Fair enough.
Quite a good ESL teacher.

Sure made a hell of a lot of errors in his post for a 'good' ESL teacher. I especially like how the top floor gave him a worm feeling. Undercooked pork sate perhaps? I didn't know whales gave out the visas either.

good point.
you have to have good typing skills to teach ESL?
is that a pre-requisit?
I thought it involve other stuff.
Thanks for the advice.
thanks for the positive criticism.
all people considering teaching ESL, take a typing course.
and if you intend to post here, be prepared to be poo pooed by smart assed dudes who cant get a real job in their native country, but will correct your spelling and grammar. |

Lighten up. And for what it's worth ,at least my 'not a real job' which I do here in my native country pays me A$51k a year, 11 weeks a year holiday with 17% leave loading, superannuation and so on. It's called a 'teacher'. But you can only be one if you do university for 4-5 years to get a B.Ed. No backpackers need apply. Not much of a real job then is it?
Teaching involves inspiring by example, not just getting in front of a bunch of spoilt rich kids, acting the clown and showing a few videos (those were the standard EF lessons that seemed to draw in the money when I was there - not that MOD EDIT cared about teaching as long as there was some money to be pocketed). In short it means striving for exellence in all we as teachers do, including how we present ourselves to the world. In the case of the World Wide Web, that includes presenting even our most informal typewritten pieces in formats that do not betray our intelligence, or our desire to lead by example.
If my initial post was unnecessarily critical, I appologise. I thought the job of the smiley was to convey the light hearted nature of the moment.
Tut tut.
Peace

Well Willy, I see they only singed your contract but there were no fires.
You should be greatful.
Reminds me of Spike Milligan, who was once asked to singe a book. He carefully applied a match and dutifully singed it, as requested. |

"Teaching is a chance to better some ones life, don't fail them"
Dear God, and this from a teacher? Too right about the typing course. While (whale?) we're at it, how about a combined typing/spelling/punctuation course?

Of course, here in America there's a concerted effort to thoroughly dumb down the language: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/13716134/?GT1=8307
I guess if you're too lazy or too stupid to learn the language (at least how to spell it), just get a bunch of people together in protest to have the language changed to accommodate you! |

Fuelled by inscurity, I mistakenly think that if others are wrong, bad or fault-ridden, then in comparison I must be right, good and capable.
Does the strategy of putting others down to buld up my own self esteem work? |

If you continually settle for what is called "good enough," will it ever be good enough? |
