Yes, it is normal practice. The first step is to visit a notary public to have a copy of your qualification(s) notarised. Costs vary between 60 - 100 pounds and depends on the number of certificates you want to notarise. If you don't want the notary public to obtain the Foreign and Commonwealth Office certification (costs extra of course), you'll have to visit them yourself near Admiraly Arch. Be prepared to spend a LONG time and go early. It's quite normal to have to wait anywhere between 2 and 5 hours. The final port of call is the UAE Embassy legalisation office near the Natural History museum. You submit the papers (takes about 5mins) and fees and collect the final product after 2 or 3 working days. Ask them for their direct number when you submit the papers and you can check to see if they are ready over the phone. Good luck! |

When I had my papers attested, the UAE Embassy did them the same day as I had to travel specially to London to do all this. They were very accommodating, even told me where the best place was for lunch whilst I waited! |
