I've just secured myself a spot in a CELTA course in Prague, and can book accommodation directly with the school at 400pounds for 5 weeks - is this a good deal? It sounds quite decent to me, but I thought I may as well seek some advice first. Is it easy to find a studio apartment in Prague at a similar cost? |

Housing is not easy to find on your own, particularly from outside the city. Also, most landlords will not rent for only one month, and will usually want the first month's rent up front + one month as a security fee. Unless you have serious contacts in the city who can help you, I'd absolutely go with the arranged housing. |

You could also try www.expats.cz (under flat share) or www.happyhouserentals.com. 400 pounds is a lot for a 5 weeks and that is about twice as much as you would normally pay. However, spiral is right when he says it will be difficult to find something from abroad. One option would be to get to the city a week before the start of the course and find something during the break. Your program should have some kind of housing assistance and they should be able to help you out. However, if you don't want to go through this extra stress, just pay for housing the school provides. |

Hey, thanks for the advice! I've checked out the websites mentioned, and although they are immensely useful I think that at this stage I'll stick to the accommodation the school provides, despite the cost. It's my first time alone in a completely foreign country, so I guess it's best to 'play safe' for the time being. Thank you for your help though, I'll keep it in mind for the future! |
