For those a little curious about what the weather in Mexico is like where you wish to teach, here is a link to use as a guideline to various location temperatures, complete with humidity reading. It is excruciatingly hot and humid in the coastal regions right now and I can't believe we actually survive here in the summer! It's sure not easy...I have been running the a/c for several hours today, and the temperature inside is still 30 degrees C. Yikes, even the parrot is panting.

That's a neat site, Samantha. Thanks for posting it. I've bookmarked it on my computer.
I might add that one should check the temperatures at various times of the day, since it lists current temperatures and humidity. Right now here in Merida (very early in the morning) it's 22 with 100% humidity. However, from about 10:00 a.m. until late in the evening the temperature is normally 35 to 40 at this time of year. When I get home from school about 9:30 p.m., it's usually 35 to 40+ in my house at this time of year -- have to close most windows when I leave for work in the afteroon, because it rains almost every evening. No AC in the house. Most nights by 11:00 p.m. night breezes from the Gulf reach us, and they cool things a bit. On nights when the breezes don't come, I sleep under a ceiling fan, get up once or twice during the night to stand under the shower for a few minutes, and return to my hammock without drying off. AC au naturale. |
