Jeff Mohamed's online course is built of 3 parts

i took part 1. i knew absolutely nothing about teaching, and absolutely nothing about teaching ESL/TEFL/pick your own alphabet soup

part 1 covers basic, intro stuff. i learned TONS! in reading his text, i saw a gizillion mistakes i would have made BUT FOR the fact that i read part 1 of his course

i purchased part 2 but have been busy doing other things and haven't started it; i've heard on Dave's in the past that part 2 is where all the fun stuff is, so i vry much look forward to it

his course and website are not flashy; he has over 30 years of excellent experience and credentials; IMHO if you want to be a really good teacher thru an online course, take Jeff's

also, if you are one of Jeff's students, he will send you his grammar text for free

i'm planning to do the CELTA once i'm ready to commit to teaching ESL since i have no teaching experience; i think i'll be pretty prepared for it, between his online course and his grammar text

I felt the I-to-I was worth it. I am a Special Ed. Instructor and did not have any idea about teaching TEFL. I still have my job and tutor a few hours a week. The I-to-I gave me some ideas and I put alot of time into the course.

Beware of Oxford Seminars job placement service for its graduates! You are better off finding a job yourself. I activated my job placement service in May and the so-called coordinator never took the initiative to contact me other than to confirm that she had received my activation and later, the documents needed to process my case. I was told a recruiter had been working on my behalf to find me a job but I never heard from this recruiter, or any others that the coordinator later told me she had given my documents to. When I e-mailed her, she told me that because (1) I was not a university degree holder and (2) because of my Chinese background the recruiter was having a difficult time finding positions for me. She also used this excuse that because I had "insisted" on working in Dalian it made things more difficult. That was of course a lie because I had only said that my preferance was Dalian, but never did I say Dalian ONLY. As for the no-degree and Chinese-face problems, I received plenty of job offers from my own job search and even had to turn down a few contracts before deciding on well-paying job in a northeastern Chinese university.

The Oxford Seminars course is useful for anyone without any teaching experience. To me it was just spending some money to buy a piece of paper in order to increase my marketability.

My take on English International - it's the only online certificate course whose grads I would hire, and it's because of the video observation.
In fact, I DID hire a teacher off that course, he was good, so when my sister asked about Internet options for the same thing, I recommended the course.
It is pretty affordable (and you only have to pay for the part you are studying at the moment, so it's easier to pay for), Jeff Mohamed is a professional, and my sister says she's learning a ton. Also says that Jeff is a really good guy and very prompt with marking her work or whatever he does.
Based on that, I recommend it.
