Really? Submitting lesson plans? I rarely write anything down! Lucky my school doesn't ask for these things.

Unfortunatey, we have to write one for every lesson. Good thing is that mine are copy and paste for 15 of 20 weekly lessons that are the same!

Why not bust the bank and at least get a TEFL of some kind?

I just finished my first year of University and plan on going back. I get the impression that if I spent the money on a TEFL I'd never be able to recoup it. Is that a valid assumption?

My wife did a T&T course but for $1500 it wasnt money well spent. You sound like youre a reasonably educationed guy. So all you need now is an outgoing personality and an imagination and u'll do just fine. If u think a TESOL certificate is needed to get a better job, just PM me. A couple of guys I know printed their own degrees (because no one does background checks, least of all on on-line certificates).
If u really must come to China, make sure u ask 2 speak to another FT at the same school before u commit.
