Has anyone here worked/lived in Nantes?
Was your experience good/bad/indifferent?
Do tell!
Thanks, Dogma |

I only did a little bit of work in Nantes (Unfortunately it was voluntary and not TEFL!) but I loved every minute of it. I was living with a family and so got to know the area really well. Don't know whether you've been before (Ignore what I'm about to say if you have!) but it's a fantastic city-lots of great touristy stuff as well as good accommodation. Obv. I don't know about pay or work over there but why not try the web before hand to see if there is anything out there?
There are a lot of HLMs (I stayed in one) and contrary to popular opinion, they're actually really nice inside, and I would've thought pretty cheap.
But Nantes is a beautiful city and well worth going to if you get the chance.
Hope everything goes well!
Millie. |

thanks for the info millie.
actually, my wife (who is french) and i are considering moving to nantes in the near future. although neither of us have visited it yet, we have heard nothing but accolades from freinds and family who have lived there.
plus, it is just a short hop to paris
plus, its not expenssive as paris
plus, it has agreeable weather (not too hot, not too cold)
plus, you have the ocean near by
plus, its supposed to be one of the most livable cities is europe
need i go on?
i am looking forward to visiting it next month on vacation...
any recommendations or must-sees? |

Definately go to the castle (I didn't go unfortunately so do that for me!) and travel to the outskirts as well because there are some beautiful buildings (Especially on tram line 1 if I remeber correctly-near to the university) What else? Oh yes, visit the little cafe which is opposite the tram station bit, I can't remember the name, but it has a little stall outside with uncooked sandwiches-its all yellow. Its beautiful. There are loads of funt hings to do aswell, try the ice skating rink and leisure centre which is a laugh. There is some great night life as well which is in the back streets, some really good latin american pubs and karaokes (If thats your thing)
Have a look on this website for more information:

(Ps, the market is good as well.) |

Funt hings?? What exactly are funt hings?
I think I mean fun things (Please ignore any stupid spellings. My fingers are not working properly. *shakes them*) |
