I read somewhere that outdoor clothing/gear stores are all over Taiwan. Is this true? I am wondering because i would like to know if i need to be saving space for stuff like mosquito nets?
Also do cheap taylors exist in Taiwan? I know in many places getting your clothes custom made is often a cheaper alternative than buying them at stores..any thoughts? |

1. The less you bring with you, the better.
2. It's not cheaper to have clothes custom-made in Taiwan. |

I, too, am interested in having some clothes custom-made and I know there are a bunch of tailor shops in TP. My question to you, Jonks, is to what country you are comparing the cost of such clothing? Compared to the US, just about any country would be cheaper for custom clothing. Yes? No?
Thanks.

There are numerous Outdoor or Mountaineering shops in Taiwan. If you are looking for bargains you will be hard pressed to find them in Taiwan unless you are in the market for low quality machine parts.
Heavy duty outdoor mosquito nets for camping are cheaper in Canada than Taiwan. Indoor lightweight mosquito nets are about the same ( 20$).
For low cost high quality tailor made clothes you will be hard pressed to find a better place than Bangkok. People fly in on Friday and leave Sunday with their clothes. The amount people save in having the tailoring done in Thailand more than pays for the trip and if you are on a visa run with a Multiple Entry Visa it couldn't be more convenient.
Good luck!

Most interesting idea.
So what's a good airline to fly to Bangkok and how much does it cost?
Thanks.

Smooth as silk!
For a list of packages and flights and other stuff to Thailand, just go here or here.
Good luck! |
