Hi ALL:

Just got an offer from Profi-Lingua Gdansk. The offer on the table is 60.00 PLN/hour. How does this match up against average remuneration in the country?

Of course you would have to deduct 19% taxes from this wage and consider the region in which you are living (Gdansk being significantly cheaper than Warsaw).

Furthermore, I am a first timer to the ESL world (altough I have university teaching experience in the sciences) and would like to know how many ESL hours is too many. Certainly this varies, but for a first time ESL teacher perhaps its best to start off with less hours to test the waters, and adjust accordingly.

Does anyone have any suggestions in terms of weekly teaching loads? I am under the asssumption 15/week is a good starting point (students are adults high intermediate/advanced).

Thanks for any insights!

You are talking about clock hours here.

(in Poland a teaching hour is 45m).

Anyway, what you've been quoted is 'average'.

The 'norm' is 24 teaching hours, but people often teach more.
