actually China has 9 of the worlds 10 most poluted cities, but thats besides the point.( sorry, I cant clairify that with refrences - anybody?)
I totally agree with you otherwise.

just remember folks - dont pin this on Newbies - being new to this has absolutley nothing to do with it.

Being an ignorant fool has alot to do with it.

If somebody wants to wast a couple of thousand euor/dollars/pounds on this then they can be my guest.I'll be happy to see the back of them.

But complaining about them will not serve anyone, its just another fact of adjusting to life here( albeit a paridoxical one -considering it concerns laowai)
Kinda the same way complaining about the staring is pointless.

Let it slide, for the time being.
Time will come when they no longer wont to blow their hard earned cash that Mum and Dad send to them every month on moving to your area.

I know about the air pollution, but in other countries like India they have just plain dirt and air pollution.I love it anyway.I will let it slide and when I get my new passport will start a new job in Shenzhen. I will be teaching little buggers again and will come armed with additional teaching materials. I do not have mummy's and daddy's money to hold me over ,either.

China certainly has 7 of the 10 most polluted cities in the world. The WHO said so a few years ago. This is 'official' as I heard it repeated on CCTV9 a few days ago.

I'm curious to hear which Chinese cities make that top ten.

I'm guessing that Lanzhou, Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai are in the list.

I've heard that Daxian (in Sichuan near Chongqing) is one of the most polluted places in the world but it doesn't make the list because it's a "small Chinese city."

Does my beloved Chengdu make the cut?

That WHO survey was from 1998.

I've been doing research and I'm slightly irked. These web stories that I find make vague statements but won't provide any cold, hard numbers and provide that highly elusive list of the top ten. Some stories maintain that China has seven of the top ten, another one stresses that China has nine (with India having the tenth), but once again, they don't mention the cities. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

It's late, I'm bored.

I speculate that China's seven are:

Lanzhou, Beijing, Shenyang, Wuhan, Chongqing, Shanghai and Xi'an.
