Does anybody have any information about visas if you are married to a Tawainese citizen? I will be coming from Brunei to work at a university and I am wondering if visas etc... are simpler when you are married. My fiance and I haven't set a date yet...
I'd appreciate any information you could give me. |

If you are coming to Taiwan to work at a Universuty you can get your ARC processed through the foresaid University. Having a Taiwanese fiancee is not going to make that any easier. How could it? You are not married yet.
If you are wondering which kind of visa is easier to get (i.e. an ARC sponsored by your educational organisation, as opposed to an ARC sponsored by your legal marriage to a Taiwanese national) then I would say it is easier for the prior. More documentation is required to get an ARC through marrigage; the process is more complicated, and it can be frustrating at the best of times.
If you have a job with a University, then just go through their usual procedures for the ARC procurement. |

I'm married to a Taiwanese citizen, I have a marriage visa. Along with the marriage visa, I have an "open" ARC that is good for 3 years. It's a bit of a hassle to get all the necessary paperwork required for the visa, particularly getting the police report from your hometown. You also have to have a more intense medical exam then you would need for your average teaching job. But it's worth it. With an open ARC, you are free to look around Taiwan for the right job instead of taking whatever you can get just so you're not deported. |
