is it safe to work anywhere indeed ! BUt having worked in Saudi during 9/11, i came in for an amount of hassle/abuse in the classrooms. On 2 occasions, I had stones tossed at me car driving home. Now, given the situation in the Lebanon, I am wondering if this is a particularly bad time to be thinking of workng in Kuwait ?
Any input would be appreciated.

None of my friends there have indicated any problems, but... if Iran is attacked, all bets are off.

I have heard that the Kuwaiti geriatric houses are safe places to work. |

Alph, Kuwait is safe, many teachers are back and others will be on their return after vacations, ready for work in September. August is always quiet here. September 23/24 will commence the month of Ramadan and the majority of people [Muslims] in the emirate will work shorter hours, fast daily and pray late through the nights, then enjoy the Eid Festival. Lots of expats will be already busy in October and November, shopping for their Christmas gifts, cards and decorations - even artificial Xmas trees are available here .... plus flashing tree lights, lol. Western Embassy parties - December brings out the festive spirit in many here.
If you require re-assurance after arrival, there is a brand new Westerners' Centre by the Stock Exchange where you could meet Americans, Canadians, Brits, etc. Information, moral support, practical assistance - whatever required, the guys there would help you whilst settling in your job and accommodation. They also have contacts and resources in case of emergencies.
If you wish, some Western chaps will email you and/or meet you at Kuwait airport, after you send your @ to me via [email protected] ?
Welcome to Kuwait! Ahlan wa sahlan!
