AS TedKarma said, there are MANY schools hiring for that type of work in SE Asia. I have come across some in my travels in Latin America. While it may not be a ticket to wealth and prosperity, it can open doors. Everyone recognizes the need for IT and having someone on staff is always a plus. |
Ok, but I don't think there is anywhere such a demand in Japan, where I live. Thanks. |

Don't forget that this is NOT typically staff work for an English-language school. It is much more often staff work at an IT college or private IT training centre. At such places, many courses are taught in English -- or the school wants the material to be taught in English but cannot find qualified instructors/trainers. That's where English-speaking IT professionals typically find work -- not in English-language schools or departments. |

Would you guys be able to provide links or contacts for some of these schools? I'll continue to do more research and look around. I'd love to network a little and get some contacts in the field for future consideration. I think it would still be very helpful for me to go ahead and get my CELTA and then look for something similar to what you mention. I would personally prefer to work at the university level or with various companies training and teaching in the IT field. I guess this gets off the ESL subject a little but you guys have helped a lot.
Once again, thanks for the input.

They never provide links to real jobs and contacts. |

Thifty,
As a professional I find your negativity and lack of substance a waste of space on this forum. May I please ask that if you can not contribute any information relevant to the subject at hand then just don't reply.

If I could play devil's advocate for a moment? thrifty's posts do provide a valuable service to the newbies. If you spend much time teaching overseas, you're going to encounter other teachers who are miserable misfits. They didn't fit in at home, but despite trying to escape overseas, their personal problems haven't gone away.
Take a look at thrifty's various postings, and realize that if you aren't careful, in a few years you too may be posting bitter missives on Dave's. |

In defence of Thrifty, I'd say he has been quite careful. |

Better get out of TEFL, then. |

Nope, there's no need to get out of English teaching. It's supporting me -- and many others here -- just fine. |

Thrifty,
It's clear to see why you have difficulty with the concept of professionalism.
