sounds strange to me because everything in it is replaceable.

You grab what you want. I'll grab what I want.

Just try replacing credit cards from across the Pacific Ocean.
I just got my driver's license, and the bureau is an hour away, so getting time off to do that would be a royal pain. Besides, in order to do it, I'd have to replace my USA driver's license, pay to get it translated again, etc. No thanks.
Getting my ATM card replaced at my Japanese bank also requires a day off from work (maybe two).
Getting my alien card replaced means at least one trip to the ward office (not open on weekends).

At my HS, I work 10-12 hours a day, 5 days a week, plus every other Saturday. Maybe you have time to do all this, but I can't afford it.

What would you grab?

People have talked about grabbing their wives. This amused me. Are they inert or something? Mind you my wife is a pretty heavy sleeper...

What would I grab.... probably my guitar as it is right by my bed Wink

Can you imagine going for your wallet and not your wife? You'd have some explaining to do. Laughing

well i have no experience of earthquakes so the comment struck me as strange because I think I would be too busy panicking to worry about anything other than life-preserving items such as water, food or a mattress to go over my head. As you've lived here a long time and have presumably lived through many earthquakes, avoiding future inconveniences is more important to you. I guess I liken it to a fire situation - if I had time to think, I'd take film negatives/CDs of photos and old diaries - those are not replaceable.
