I am looking to head to Taiwan in January 2007 from Canada and am wondering which are the better schols to look for? I am mostly looking in Taipei and Kaohsiung. Can anyone offer suggestions or recommendations?

If you're looking for info about Kaohsiung specifically, take a look at this site as well. There are job postings, and regular communications from many teachers in Kaohsiung.

My advice would be stick with large chain schools when you arrive. They are largely legal positions, they offer training and support, and they get your paperwork in order with relatively no fuss.
In your second year you may like to branch out with a smaller school.
