Hello,
I recently obtained my CELTA. In your experiences, what EU countries tend to be easier for Americans to find work in? Or are they all varying degrees of impossible?
All thoughts and suggestions welcome.

The 'new' EU countries are still generally doable, though many already prefer EU citizens when hiring. That's the Czech Rep, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, etc
The older EU member countries represent degrees of impossibile to nearly impossible.
Netherlands = 100% no way, Germany has recently tightened rules against nonEU citizens, France, Italy, and Spain are essentially no way as well, though there are (especially in Spain) lots of non-EU teachers working under the table.
Belgium used to have some agreements that allowed a few teachers in, but pay is low there, and demand is also very low.

Did I forget some important exceptions? Check the individual country forums....this topic is discussed on an extremely regular basis.

If you qualify, maybe you could get in through the Fulbright Teaching Assistantship Program and then network and look around for something more long term:

Not sure why Austria is not listed there - that's where I taught.

You can get into France through the government-sponsored teaching assistantship program (I think it's different than the Fulbright one). You will need to speak French and be able to find a way to survive on about 750 euros/month net.

There is a thread about the program on the France forum.
