Thanks E - that's all I could come up with also.
Just wondering if anyone had any direct personal experiences from working there. |

I used to know a couple of teachers at Yasar but they seem to have vanished. I don't know why...... |

Do I detect a bit of racism here?
Because Yasar Uni has few foreigners, does this make it a less worthy institution?
You know who's teachers are virtually all foreign but what do we think of them?
Tsk tsk Entrailicus, I thought you were so politically correct and so TEFLy. |

So E mate where is this academic list then ? BTW I heard that the pay at Yasar is the lowest in the city apart from one or two very dodgy language schools . |

What in the devil's name are you talking about? Your last post made no sense. |
You implied that Yasar Uni was not much cop because they had few native speaker teachers. |

I've been at Yasar for six months now and they've been quite good to me. The director is easy to work with, very competent and supports the teachers in relation to the students and the upper level of managment. They also got me a work permit without too much hassle. The pay isn't as good as it could be but they are making changes to that this year. The students are about the same as any prep school and although they were difficult in the class they were very friendly outside class. |

I am acquainted with numeorus members of staff from IU of E and would trust their word. I don't know of anyone working at the aforementioned Yasar University and so can't comment.
Looking through the list of academic staff, one could notice that there are cery few non-Turks in the language school. I suppose you could draw some conlusions from that. |
What conlusions (sic) did you draw? |

I suppose one could have drawn the conclusion that he likes to spout a lot but usually sits on the fence even more but did I say that ? No, merely supposed it ! |

Oh E,!!!!!!! did the big bad otter make you feel you bad aboutyourself then ? Never mind take a small amount of comfort from the fact that the number of times you have done the same thing to me and others is just one of your better traits . |

Well, anyway.... I suppose the conclusion a person could draw is that a school that wouldn't hire foriegn teachers may find Turkish english teachers a bit more compliant, less complaining generally and easier to negotiate ( read: manipulate) at contract signing time. I am not sure if that is accurate in any case. I am sure there are a lot of reasons- other than the ones I have mentioned.
The flip side to this is a foriegn teacher coming from abroad, depending on the school for housing, a group of friends from the staff and information about how to get along in this country... all these things could make a yabanci ogretmen equally easy to control.
By the way, it is probably pointless to ask this but why is there so much hostility and open disrespect in this forum? It is really necessary to hijack every topic with personal attacks and petty arguing.. it gets very tiresome very quickly. |
