Please help,
I did some research on the various air passes covering some destinations in Southeast Asia and was wondering if any of you have used them before...what did you think of it? was it easy to use? what about the coupon system?
If so, which one would you recommend? I checked out the Discovery air pass..it seems pretty good.
Destinations in mind include (Thailand most probably because it is cheapest to fly there) but more importantly Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos...and if there are any that also cover Japan (even just one city)..that would be great.
Anyways, any info or input you may have is greatly appreciated |

I am going to get the Cathay Pacific "All Asia Pass" in a few months...it may be a bit more than what you need though since it includes 18 cities...plus the flights must connect in Hong Kong.
anyway...you may want to check it out. Also - maybe you can post a query at Lonely Planet's Thorn Tree forum.
good luck
P.S. - if you have time please post your research findings here for us to see....thanks. |

Now am a bit confused, I see most passes allow you to travel for around 90$ internationally... but there are flights between Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos listed at around 50$ on Airasia...if it's the case..then it seems cheaper than getting an airpass (Which defeats the purpose right?).. am I missing something here?
Please help people
Serious fun, the Cathay pacific seems pretty good..but yeah, it's much more than I need! |

I think that perhaps you have found the answer which you sought! You may save a few $$ but might be tied down by the pass' restrictions.
I took the liberty of searching the Lonley Planet's Thorn Tree for this issue: most of the posts there were asking about the pass, but not given answers.
With all due respect to my fellow TEFLers, this might not be a good site to ask about things which require a larger outlay of money for longer holidays! Some of us also prefer to travel the "back roads" when on holiday...
good luck! |
