|
|
Hi,
I'm wondering how difficult finding a job in Barcelona for September will be. I have 1.5 years ESL teaching experience in Korea, a uni degree, but no TELF cert.
I was also wondering whether it would be better to start looking for jobs towards the end of August, or if early September is better. (Trying to decide when I should be in the city by, as Im travelling in eastern europe at the moment.
Thanks in advance,
Shawn |

Hi i did my TEFL course in Barcelona so im also looking of jobs out there - i also have a few friends now out there in schools who have told me that there is no point applying to schools in july/august - the majority of schools there recruit in September - though most will only interview you if you are already living in the city - and schools start in October. Be warned pay in Barcelona is poor but there is a lot of scope for private lessons |

Thanks for the info. I should arrive in Barcelona over the last couple days of August, so I won't worry too much about getting there sooner.
Cheers. |

For those in Spain, especially Barcelona, what is the preferred certification for teaching English? I am a native English speaker with a bachelors in Communications. I have several summers' experience as a counselor at a summer camp where I led activities and taught skills, but no real classroom experience. Are employers looking for TEFL cert, CELTA, bachelors, or some combination of those? Thanks for your responses! |

i think that most employers here are looking for a TEFL course (some want CELTA) but your best bet would be check on the job websites - i find www.loquo.com the best but there are many others - especially if your Spanish is good.
It may also be worth doing what i did & email schools your CV anyway - that way you find out for definite if you have what theyre looking for. |
