I've been pretty set on going to China to teach next year but now am having second thoughts. With all the china-bashing that goes on on this board, why should I pick china over a place like japan? i realize this is both general and vague, but i want inspiration to go to china. |

A simple answer - take a look at the thread -"rate your china teaching experience". While there is lots of china bashing on the board, I think a lot of that is just for an outlet of frustration. But when you read many of the results posted there you can get a more accurate picture of what the people think. |

Virtually any board you read will be "China bashing". Quite frankly, people are more likely to complain than to compliment. Compliments tend to only come in response to complaints.
That being said, I spent a year in Korea and have now been in China for 17 months. I greatly miss Korea and for all its faults, I felt that it was a vastly superior experience to China. Keep in mind that I've had a terribly bad string of luck in terms of work in China, but I also didn't exactly love my job in Korea either. However, the town that I lived in during my time in Korea was a great place. China is too overbearing for me. |
