Hi, don't know where to start but i'm currently taking the TESOL certificate at Oxford Seminar going to be done this month. I've been trying to do some research on places that i want to go to teach at. My first pick is HK. I've read a couple of forums about teachears in hk and newbies like me. Well basically i don't have a degree but i got a diploma and going to get the TESOL soon, do i have a chance in teaching in HK?
I like to work with little kids. Any advice?
I also heard alot of stories that HK only hire high potiential teachers? |

In HK they prefer female teachers in kindergartens. |

Usually to get hired in HK you need to be a professional teacher, i.e. hold a B.Ed or PCEd. To work in a kindy you need QKT status. I doubt that without a degree and only a short course you would be considered. There are some who do not have the quals that I mentioned but they already have residency status so some schools hire them on a part-time basis.
Peace. |

My honest advice is avoid HK, if you don't have ewither the necessary qualifications or teaching expereince and a large sum of money to burn whilst searchign for an employer to sponser you.
You might find countries like Thailand an easier starting point. |
