I worked in Barcelona- but back in the days when pesetas were used. Am considering moving back there next year.
Have been looking at jobs being offered etc would a salary of 35- 41,000 Euros be sufficient to live on in Madrid/Barcelona? (I have a DELTA plus 8 years experience teaching both overseas and in the UK)

Cheers

PS Did a search but wanted up to date info

Average TEFL teachers here consider themselves very lucky to get 1500 euros a month over a year, so that's 18,000. 35 to 41,000 is more than enough.

WOW, that's a lot of money. In my experience even management positions rarely pay more than 2,000 a month. You ARE talking about English teaching, right? Smile

Qatarchic,

I'd be very dubious about a school which paid that amount of money to a TEFL teacher! My advice to you would be to act with caution Exclamation

I guess our awe and envy at your salary answered your question about whether it's enough money Very Happy Thanks for satisfying my curiousity by explaining what the job was, and good luck.

CMB u'r welcome Very Happy

Actually I am not moving yet as my contract here finishes July next year (this job is for September 2006) I was just curious when I heard about the job- hopefully next year there'll be similar positions in Madrid/Barcelona (although I doubt it, as most people tend to renew their contracts) still fingers crossed Very Happy
