Can someone tell me if 1200 - 1300 pre tax (8% tax deduction) is a good enough salary to live in Madrid, I know I'll have to share a flat!! Also, if you stay with a certain school for many years, does the salary increase?
PLEASE HELP!!

It's good enough to live on, pretty standard to start with: depends how many hours you have to do for that though, including the travel time. If it's a salary that includes pay over Christmas and public holidays (but probably not summer) it's not too bad. You can always quit anyway, no matter what anybody says about contracts (not a great idea to tell them before you get your last months pay though!). You really need to be on 1500-1800 a month to be able to save enough to survive over next summer, but that's only if you plan to stay, but to earn that you will probably have to do lots of hours for several different schools. Madrid is a lot of fun and your biggest expense is likely to be going out Smile

teachers on a 10 month contract are entitled to 10 days of company holiday, to be taken when the company decides. You will also accrue 2.5 days worth of holiday per month you work. This will be paid on completion of your contract. All public holidays are paid.

Its IH MADRID!!
