| Oh yeah, the teeth. Japanese people place a lot less importance on having straight, white teeth than many English speakers do. Having braces is slowly becoming more common, but still isn't often done when the kids are teenagers. I used to see some truly terrible gnashers in all shades of grey, brown and yellow when I was teaching English, and some pretty advanced gum disease as well, even in quite young people. |

This reminds me of one of the few times I visited a rural Japanese kindergarten only to be met with dozens of smiling kids showing off the worst cavity filled teeth I'd ever seen -- many rotten through the front. When I was able to choke back my urge to vomit, I managed to ask how their parents could allow them to run around with such obviously rotten teeth.
The response: "Oh, they're just baby teeth. They'll fall out anyway."
Yeah. Appalachia's got nothing on that place. |

If you're going to go the "wonky teeth" route, why not do what most discussions do and include the British?
As for non-hairy Japanese, I suspect that many with ancestors of Ainu origin will show more hair.
Very strange OP. Can we kill this thread before it gets out of hand (as if it isn't already)? |

nice to have mods throw personal comments around
Haven't you heard all the banter among foreigners (ever, in your time here) about how "hot" the chicks are (...in general, and, yes, on a comparative basis), for example? |

also, so strange, hey, that if you were to pile up into lines 100 random 25-year-olds from Japan, The US, Australia, ...just about anywhere else, ...well, then let's take a wild guess about which country's reps would be the hottest ...probably by quite a startling margin (especially when compared to those countries most of us English teachers hail from).
You reckon the US, Aus, the UK, somewhere else would come out on top? |

It totally depends on your taste. If you're the sort of person that places the most emphasis when it comes to looks on girls being thin and guys being immaculately groomed, well then Japan would come out on top. But if you emphasis, say, boobs and curves and long legs for women or like tall guys with some more heft, obviously you'll pick the westerners. I mean, does anyone really think this doesnt come down to simple personal preference? obviously there are hotties from every corner of the planet.
And i would also like to point out that we often idolize that which is exotic to us. Some westerners see all Japanese as hot because they are looking with untrained eyes. And many Japanese do the same. They have totally different criteria. A Japanese guy looking at western girls might see white skin, a 'high' nose, large eyes, long legs, actual boobs, and other features coveted in Japan. It's all a matter of perspective. |

What's that supposed to mean? I'm not a moderator here, and even if I were, I'd feel the same way (and probably stop this meaningless thread). Moderators step in on a site to quell various issues, but why aren't they allowed a personal comment, too? |

I do believe the most beautiful women in the world reside in Japan.
Since some people mentioned the food eaten here, I believe that has a big deal on the complexion and bodies of the beautiful women here.
Fish is maybe one of the most healthiest foods in the world, and Japan is the #1 consumer of it (I think). Japanese people are fit and thin and look good because they eat only the best ingredients. |

Yeah Rolling Stone, for someone who has a crazy set of chompers in their sig like you do, I wouldn't be talking about wonky teeth! |

Okie, dokie, Stonsie-wonsie.
Can't we just be professional enough to use our handles? Geez.
No offense was intended towards Brits. I simply implied that I felt this discussion was a tired one that gets resurrected every year, and that the comparison to British dental work often comes up. Forgive me for living long enough to see such threads so often. I'm outta this thread. Carry on. |
