Now i know why KELT posts add's every few months, are there any jobs in indo that dont have a turnover that looks like a hamster on speed?
Must be the teachers, well so the schools say.
But then, how many teachers want to work for the same wage year after year, welll sometimes it's up by 2% never mind that inf. is up 30% |

The attraction of KELT used to be that they paid more money and offered more holidays. I always found KELT teachers to be extremely arrogant because of this. They were very patronizing towards the EF teachers, but if you earned more than the KELT teachers, they chose never to talk about salary
I assume that conditions are not so good now due to the fact that they are always advertising. |

I used to work for Kelt for 2 years and am quite offended by this post, such as

All I can say is this is a load of bullocks.

Kelt has four recruitment periods every year, one for each term. They have over 35 teachers, and one would expect that not every teacher is going to renew their contract every year. Hence, Kelt needs to advertise four times a year. For those who do renew their contracts, they also receive a pay rise.
Kelt also hires teachers who have no experience and it is often these who leave after one year... Many teachers have also been known to come back after working at other schools. Its also a well known fact that in the past some EF teachers have moved to Kelt, but never the other way around.
Maybe if people stopped accepting jobs at schools that offer ridicuously short holidays and pitiful salaries while their DOS' bank account is overflowing, we could in a way work together to increase the standard. |

interesting point that has never (as i am aware) been raised on this forum is that DOS dudes may infact also be parasites in english language schools. because they are foreign - should you trust them?. i have known and met some characters who infact have criminal records in their home countries and cannot return becaue they will be arrested - one in particular is from new zealand and claims to have been a "film star" making action movies for video. (EEP) oops, sorry peter! also some "solicitor" guy who claims he can make a better living running traing programmes in jakarta than practicing law in australia. hmmmmmmmmm Come on David."H".
watch out people. why trust someone in indonesia, just because they are white?
if they are "succesful" in jakarta they know how to work the system, and that means screw you.

Another dude was fired as DoS at an EF for being drunk (constantly!) and attempting to seduce minors. Very unsavoury character indeed, quite possibly the nastiest slimeball I've come across in Indo. Had 2 passports but couldn't go back to one of his 'home' countries due to being wanted by the police - although I'm not sure what the alledged offence was there.
Some time later it emerged that same dude had been employed by another EF in Java. The owners of the original school contacted the new employer to tip them off. New employer said they were desperately short of staff and as far as I know the dude worked there for some months. |

I'm not about to get into yet another Kelt v EF debate here, but Team Papua, what's your problem? Didn't you leave Surabaya years ago? Why are you so intent on spreading negativity here?
The fact is that Kelt teachers and EF teachers are no different - we are all just a bunch of EFL teachers who happen to work at different companies. There are a few idiots and plenty great people working at both schools.
The conditions at both schools are comparable. Yes, new teachers at Kelt get a slightly bigger monthly salary, yet EF Surabaya teachers get an extra month's bonus at the end of their contract, which we don't. Both schools pay flights and provide housing and take care of their teachers pretty well I'd say.
The DoS at Kelt is English whereas at EF Surabaya he's local, and I've only ever heard good things about him from the many EF teachers I've been friends with over the last 5 years.
Some teachers at both schools are settled and rarely socialise, others are out and about at weekends. We all, Kelt, EF, IALF and TBI, end up in Colours and at parties on a Saturday night and don't exactly spend our time discussing our salaries.
How come there's no one else on here going on abour how "arrogant" Kelt teachers are? Does the company you end up teaching at really make you arrogant? What about the ex EF teachers who move to Kelt? Do they suddenly undergo a personality change? Hey, IALF get more than us, so what does that make them?
Team P, I'm sorry for any bad experiences you've had with any Kelt teachers. Of course any school will have "odd" people, and I've met more that plenty from any school in my time in Sby, but don't tar us all with the same brush, mate.
If you're who I think you are, you always seemed a decent guy and I really don't know what happened to you that made you feel this way. Sorry! |

Do you really believe that every EF Englih First in China or elsewhere is so bad? Ohh, if you say yes, could you please explain why? Cheers
Yes. Why? Because they openly compare and liken their recruits (for want of a better word) with staff at McDonald's:
http://www.englishfirst.com/partnersinfo/what.asp
"Today McDonald's has over 14,000 restaurants all over the world. And McDonald's success shows how right ray Kroc was. At EF English First, proudly we honor this same ideal."
