I know it's more difficult to find jobs teaching adults. Wondering if you can suggest some schools in Taipei as a place to start. Thanks! |

Between us (and the rest of the information superhighway) teaching adults may seem less stressful and Disney-esque, but the terms are less than ideal and the employers often shady- even by Taiwan standards. (You may have seen by now that this is saying a lot.) Far better to get a cozy little cram school job and take on adult studnets in your free time. Most employers won't have a problem with this, and the rates for tutoring adults are double what you'd get teaching an adult class. (Unless you're in this for the sheer love of it, of course.)It's far more rewarding, too. Adult classes are often filled with corporate-funded staff who expect you to pull perfect English ability out of a hat for them- without any assistance on their part. |
