Hello,
I recently got a job offer from an Inlingua school in Germany. I am a new teacher and I have a few questions.
What is the Inlingua method?
What have been your experiences with Inlingua?
As far as getting jobs after Inlingua; does having them on your CV hurt/help/or is it neutral? |

My first EFL job was with Inlingua as well - many years ago now - and in Italy not Germany. I can't say that professionally it was the best place I've ever worked - a great example of this was my DOS telling me to shout at an elderly gentleman in my class if he didn't understand things as he was probably just hard of hearing.............
As for the inlingua method - none of us were really aware of it and taught as we had done on our certs. I do remember the books being a bit odd and outdated - to say the least but am sure they have improved after 7 years.
I think the main problem with inlingua is the same as you'd have with any company that is built on franchises (EF - prime example) there can be some good schools but a lot depends on who has the franchise....
As for it being a good/bad thing to have on your CV - everyone has to start somewhere and once you've got your first year out of the way and them moved on elsewhere, employers (in my opinion) don't seem to have any probs. |
