So I scraped together the money I need for my Working Holiday Visa application, now I'm suddenly struck by the fear of being rejected for it. I'll have to wait at least a week after application to find out, but to be honest I can't think of any overt reason that the embassy may reject my application. But I've struggled to get over to Japan for so long now that I'm terrified of having it denied to me AGAIN. Anyone had any nasty experiences with the WHV application? Do they reject people for petty reasons or are they relatively relaxed about it?

Also, has anybody been turned away by immigration in Japan despite having a valid WHV?

Hi, when you say "denied to me again" do you mean you were denied a visa before or that you were unable to go for other reasons? If the former, then I can't say, if the latter, then don't worry, you'll be fine. I have applied for a lot of visas in my life (including Japanese WHV and working visa, tourist visa for many countries) and I am irrationally convinced every time that they will find a reason not to give it to me- what reason I don't know! It seems to be a common worry.

The only reason Japan immigration/ customs would turn you away is if you were trying to bring drugs/ weapons into the country- they might show you some pictures and ask "Do you have these things?"- heroin, big bag of cannabis, hand grenades etc. It's hard not to laugh, but just say "no" with a straight face and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the reassurance. By "denied to me again" I meant rejections from Geos and Nova. The WHV is the first visa I've ever applied for.

You have to be a little more careful in how you describe things. The working holiday visa requires no employer to sponsor you. A regular work visa does.

Were you turned down for a job or for the working holiday visa? The employer only does the former. The office in your home country where you applied for the WHV does the latter.
