Well it's that time of year again. The summer is over and it is time for my mandated six moths on the beautiful white beaches of Thailand. Unfortunately there is no Internet access in the Southern islands, at least not when I left , so I will be handing the reins over to another capable provocateur.
See you in The Year of the Pig.

Provocateur is one word for it. I think there are many of us on this forum who could come up with a lot more appropriate adjectives. |

Next week I'll be off to India for my annual 9 month vacation, graciously hosted by my good friend the Aga Khan. Unfortunately, the Khan only has dial up, so in my absence one of my friends in Taiwan will be writing my posts for me. |

Fighting The Man from the beaches of Koh Phi Phi??? That doesn't sound very Che-like
I would have thought someplace like Cuba would have been more appropriate for you amigo. I hear Bolivia is nice this time of year. |

Good point. For someone who likes to complain about the government in Taiwan, Thailand is worse by many degrees. |

Yup, but when you have Tiawanese gangsters and politicians who have swiped approximately $26 billion U.S. in public money, the differences are only shades of grey, aren't they.
Have a great vacation in Thailand, Aristotle! |

Nice to be back if only for a few weeks. I would like to apologize for my prolonged absence but Thailand has a way of discouraging departure.
Unfortunately my work in Thailand took a turn for the worse forcing my early departure and Taiwan has lost it's appeal all together as the pay, or lack of it, has gotten to a point where it no longer compares.
Taiwan has not changed at all except for the weather, which is still cold and damp but noticeably warmer this year.
Unfortunately for my beloved Taiwan and it's racist corrupt occupational government, I have accepted a teaching position in Korea for nearly double the average salary here in Taiwan. The unusually warm winter and a very fat pay check are more than enough incentive to try a greener pasture so long as it is not covered in ice.
With a little luck I will be back this summer. |

welcome back. I am new on this forum but saw a few of your postings around.
anyways, a person doesn't have to conform in their thinking nor agree with you 100% at all times to know that it's better to have users willing to rock the boat rather than worship their host country or "serve" overseas as mindless souls.
keep it up and don't leave the forum. |

I am sorry but my replacement does not have the time or aptitude to offer assistance through the net.
I am off to Korea in a few weeks, to what remains of decent pay in Asia and feel that not being in Taiwan would discredit any advice I have to offer.
Rocking the boat is effective but takes time and understanding, both of which I am currently without. |
