Hey All,

There isn't anywhere on the web for the negatives as well as the positives than here! I'm working six more months to get some savings together before doing my 4 week lip service CELTA and then moving to Ankara.

SO! I originally thought it would be best to do a course at Manchester University (along with its pretty good reputation) until I read through some of the pages on here. They suggested that it is often best to train in the country you intend to teach in, ITI is one of the few offering the CELTA.

First of all, does it do the 4 week courses and how regularly do these run? (No reply to my email as yet)
What are the pros and cons to this place? Let's face it, I don't think there is a place in Turkey for courses or employment that hasn't been slated at some point on this web site! :O) It isn't a bad thing - always better to get the big picture!

Thanks, Amy

You might also want to have a look or two at a grammar book while you're at it ...

Young TEFLers today- I don't know. At least get a few years TEFLing before you slag it off.

Why do the damn thing and pay for it if you consider it just lip service? I did the DELTA there but at the time I at least was interested.

My apologies, I am used to very casual posts and people don't really know me in here so I can see how it might have read!

I have read quite a few of the posts in here and got the impression that many of the experienced people see 4 week courses as inadequate to truly help people learn English with any degree of effectiveness. In light of that I was trying to add an element of cheekiness to the post. I don't seriously see it as lip service - I wouldn't invest the time and money if I didn't see the value in it :O)

The reason I'm opting for the CELTA rather than any of the other courses is because I have heard it is one of the more intense forms of teacher training and I want to be as prepared as possible.

I'm also not that young but thanks for that!!!!

Nobody could accuse you of being quick.

I was rumbled ages ago. You must be the only long-term poster here who doesn't know my name and where I am.

Paid? Have you lost your mind? I wish someone would pay me. Who and How would they pay me?

People respond-you will respond, won't you?

No, Entrailicus you are way out. DMB and Sheikh know who I work for and where. I hope that they will confirm that my employer has no interest or concern in any language schools in Turkey or anywhere else.

If anyone does want to pay me I would be more than happy to accept money for posting, providing it is reasonable-the money that is.

Is there a precedent for someone being paid to post filth about a rival school?

people should be allowed to have a wide margin of freedom to say what ever they want on a forum such as this and getting drawn into tit for tat bickering requires at least people.

Has there been a chemical leakage into the Izmir water system?
