What are your ideas about having a greeting in arabic on my cover letter? There does not seem to be many jobs advertidsed for this area does anyone know of where i can find more job vacancies? Also i was thinking of an international school as i have been told they are a better place to work is that somewhat correct? Thanks and i hope i have not asked a unacceptable level of questions. |

Hi Hak
I know you said you were teaching in an Islamic school but what subjects were you teaching? |

Hak,
Posters are reacting to your English, but I think we can assume that you are not an English teacher from your post.
Since almost all of the posters here are EFL teachers, we tend not to know much about job opportunities in other areas. Using Arabic in your application may help at some places and just be ignored at others. Also, most regular posters here tend to teach at university level.
You might want to look at the other theads in this section... those with school names in the list may give you an idea about the situation in the international schools. (many of them are not good employers)

At the school i am at i have taught mainly English ( poorly ) and Sose subjects ranging from year 7 to 12.I have my masters from Melbourne University in education this did not involve ESL.At the moment i am just trying to find out if that could be enough to secure work and if so where are good places to start looking.
Thanks |

Hak, I was not as VS implied reacting to your 'level' of English but it would seem that VS is unaware that even in Islamic schools in Australia all manner of subjects are taught not only Arabic and Islamic studies so there was no way of knowing which subject/subjects that you are qualified to teach, so I never assumed that you were 'not' an English teacher. As for the post by 'sw' I can not assume any reasons for asking such a question but for those who are not familair with Melbourne University it is ranked number 1 in Australia and in the top 50 in the world -
So Hak with your credentials ,English teaching experience and the Sose subjects you would be very qualified to teach here and there are many international schools. I have noticed that Beacon Education has many schools and are opening more every day , there is a new one opening in Abu Dhabi this year ( Al Raha ) and it is hiring for all levels and subjects . If you go to the general Beacon site you can submit your cv anytime. I believe they have quite a good reputation.
Best of luck in your job search |
