Hi, I'm curious as to what the cost of living is in Buenos Aires these days. Ive read that the prices for everything there are going up and I wonder what I can rent an apartment for in Recoleta or santelmo. Please let me know and sorry if this has been answered already, I didn't look through old threads. Thanks |

Also, I live pretty simple. What would be an approximate budget per month with an apartment in one of those areas? Thanks |

As you won't have a DNI and most likely a garantia (for more info. on these two do a search - really there's mounds of info. on all these topics, but from months back when this board was at its heyday), for a rough estimate of market prices for foreigners look on craigslist.com, Argentina, under Housing. The majority of housing advertised here will be in Palermo, Recoleta and San Telmo so this should give you a rough feel. I find this to be a decent barometer of housing prices for people in your position. Good luck. |

If you plan to live in Recoleta, plan on using a lot of your savings. I would say that most foreigners that have their own furnished apartment in Recoleta pay somewhere around US$400 a month, which is about what you can earn teaching.
Try to find a room share, in a cheaper neighborhood, like San Telmo. If you want to be a teacher here I wouldn't recommend paying more than $400-600 pesos a month at most. |
