hola,
so, my boyfriend and i are taking the plunge and moving to ecuador!
i have more than a year's experience teaching english through Fulbright, to middle schoolers and adults--plus my TEFL and a BA in English. my boyfriend also has his BA in english.
if anyone knows of any available positions, teaching or otherwise, please let me know.
also, if anyone wants to throw out general advice about any part of ecuador, we're open to suggestions/advice/caveats.
and if you would want to spill your wisdom over a beer (on me!--limited offer), that would be even better!
cheers,
annie

good advice, Naturegirl. Am I the only poster in Quito these days? Maybe the rest got scared away by the volcano?
Anyway- I have a good list of places to apply, but all of the schools on it are also on Naturegirl's now famous Latin America Schools list. Do feel free to PM or email me for more subjective viewpoints and school advice, though. Where did you do your TEFL cert? And where were you teaching before?
Beer sounds good,
Justin |

Hi Justin,
We've actually emailed back and forth a few times, and I just got a nice email from your assistant. I will definitely be stopping by some time that week, as she suggested, and would be happy to go out for a beer.
My TEFL cert. is from Ohio University, and included a teaching practicum (as you frequently suggest).
I spent last year teaching in Korea on a Fulbright. I taught middle school students, English teachers, and non-English teachers. I also edited their English newspaper and... can tell you all this when we meet!
Looking forward to it,
Annie |

I'll second that!
In the last few months, I've had various dealings with Key- they're the local Cambridge exams center, and involved in a lot of other things as well.
Though we've known each other by phone and reputation for a while, I actually met Sandra, one of the bosses at Key, for the first time last week. I agree, she's tops. I'm looking forward to meeting Gill, the other one, sometime soon.
Best,
Justin |
