I am going to be taking a plane out of Kansai Airport at 1:40 pm on a weekend. I will most likely be taking a night bus in the previous evening (from Yamaguchi via Hiroshima) to assure adequate time as I haven`t flown out of this airport before. Is there a bus that goes straight to the airport? I am trying for no more than one transfer if it is necessary.
Also, are there any departure taxes that I should know about? My ticket price includes something called Kansai Airport PFC. Just don`t want a nasty surprise at the airport with an unexpected expense. |
Where does the bus arrive?
No nasty surprises at Kansai, it's a superb airport. |

I think the bus may arrive at Namba. It is easy to catch a train to get the airport. You may have to change trains in Tennoji. |

You can catch the Nankai Rapite at Nankai in Namba, it takes 30 mins to airport
JR leaves from Tennoji and requires some train transfers and walking between stations. |

There is indeed a departure tax from Kansai airport of somethjing around 2000 yen, I forget the exact amount. But I think the Kansai airport PFC is indeed that tax and it is included in your ticket. It seems most tickets from agencies include the tax but if you are worried you could try contacting your agency and asking.
I always go to the airport by JR, which has a station right in the airport downstairs so it's very convenient. Also, there are many buses ( "Highway Buses") that have stops right at the airport and ususally depart from the outside of train stations. You can buy tickets and get a schedule in any local travel agency, or maybe even at the JR side counter that they use for travel, hotel reservations and the like. If you go by bus you will be sure to be there on time, and it's easier if you have a lot of baggage, but I have learned it's best to travel very light, as there's tons of walking throughout airports and on train platforms.
Have a good trip! |

Inbound highway buses to Osaka stop at the main bus terminal outside Osaka Station. If you've been to Osaka before, the main bus terminal is directly north of the Hilton and directly east of the Central Post Office. From there, you can either take a direct bus to the airport, a direct JR train to the airport (which leaves twice an hour), or take the subway to Namba and transfer to the Nankai Rapito. If it were me, I'd just hop on a direct bus. They're called "Airport Limousine". It's about the same price, runs more often, and involves the least amount of walking.
The Airport Limousine doesn't leave from the main bus terminal, but it leaves from hotels scattered around the terminal. I think the best bet would be to walk two blocks west to the Herbis hotel. It's on the south side of the street. You can't miss it... it's huge. Here's a link for the bus schedule... they leave every 20 minutes...

Kansai PFC is indeed a departure tax. It's 2,650 yen. |

Thanks for the correction about the "Highway buses", seems I was thinking of the "Airport Limousine" which goes directly to the airport but only from certain prefectures. Thanks also for the link. |
