Yesterday a friend told me that beginning in October, it'll be possible to switch cell phone companies and keep your existing phone number. Apparently, this service will cost 2000 yen? Has anyone else heard this? Does anyone have more details?

I'm thinking of switching from Vodafone to DoCoMo, and it would be great if I could keep my number. Having to tell everyone a new phone number seems like a big pain in the a**.
