Hey all,

I've recently put up a blog for my students to use, and would appreciate any ideas/suggestions you could offer!

The url is:

http://www.atueli.blogspot.com

If you are using blogs with your students, I'd love to see what you're doing. Maybe you could even post the links here???

Thanks in advance,

JTC

I have an old website that I'm not currently using (with material/homework assignments). The main thing missing on yours is any peronality. Of course, it's very functional, but boring. Add some personal data and comments, and maybe some tip or links to photos of places you've been etc. Family photos might be fun to personalize your blog a little bit. Right now, I just know you teach and offer a lot of study advice and how to avoid plagerising, but that's about it (this is from skimming the landing page and clicking on a few links).

The student blogs are a nice touch. Lot of useful info for classes. If your university has some restrictions on what you can share (or you feel squeamish) then just ignore my previous comments.

gaijin,

Thanks!

The site isn't meant to be a personal one, rather, a functional one for my classes.

I'm keeping my personal life separate from my professional life (at least, I try). I use Myspace for my own site, but maybe I could put a link to that on there (perhaps under a new section called "More about your teacher" or something like that??).

Why did that make me chuckle?

...

Great idea using a blog to reach your students..very efficient way (I would imagine) to make a lot of material accessible. Are your students actively using it?

I liked the fact that the site is streamlined, and the fact that it doesn't have too much personality seems an educational plus to me. (The author obviously has personality enough ;-0). Excellent idea, and one that is likely to become increasingly popular. Thanks for blazing the trail!
