Greetings-
Anyone here live in Nara or know about any of the gyms in Nara? I am heading there in a week and I want to start lifting the moment I hit the ground. Any other info about Nara would be appreciated. |

Nara is a nice place. It was the capital in the 8th century and has a big Buddha at Todaiji temple. It is near a few mountains and has good hiking.
It gets a fair bit of tourists who come to see the temples.
It is home to many deer and recently there was the annual ceremony where male deer have their horns cut off. The deer are allowed to wander around but that means you have to look out for their poop.
It has about 355,000 people
Another thing are the kofun, which are the old burial grounds of emperors. It has several of those and at least two that are on islands because moats were dug to prevent people from visiting.
From Nara it is easy to get to Osaka or Kyoto on JR. |
