Seeing how you know better than all of us about everything which we ever said: hey Paul! It'd be a really bad idea to hold your head under water for six hours!

Well it's worth a shot isn't it?

I spent 6 years in Poland and, to be honest, didn't meet many money-grabbing princesses, five of my friends married beautiful, intelligent, hard-working Polish girls, as did I.

If we're objectifying them, they tend to look better because junk food, ready made meals and excessive beer consumption is something they don't do.

There's still a relatively conservative attitude to men and women's roles, this a country that just voted in an ultra-right-wing, very catholic government. Women don't expect you to pay for everything, but they also don't expect to be taken to places thteir paychecks can't cover then be asked to pay for half. Most TEFL teachers in Poland earn double the national average not including privates. If you want to go to better bars and restaurants remember she probably earns way less than you

Nearly all of Polish women I met (and I do mean nearly all) wanted marriage and children at some stage. Polish girls in general don't 'screw around, they look at each new relationship as something could lead to marriage and kids. (Others here may disagree, but after 6 years it was clear to me that having a family is one of a Pole's - man or woman - main goals in life).

my wife and my friends wives all have careers, and none of them want to be kept they all express a desire to spend a lot of time with their kids when born.

Yes they are 'hot', however, they're also incredibly hard-working, driven, intelligent and above all don't suffer from the belief that to be equal they need to act like men. They know they're equal. I've never seen a Polish girl down several pints and chasers, start a fight, fall over dead drunk in the street etc. I'm not saying Polish girls don't do any of the above but it's not a regualr saturday night out.

If you are going to Poland and you meet a good-looking Polish girl in a bar, buy her a drink talk to her, get her number and set up a date, a bit old-fashioned but far more interesting.

I don't know man. So many people on here generalizing. If you don't like traditional women you won't like Polish girls. Also, for every international relationship success story (i.e. Polish woman happily marries American guy), there is one disaster. I know a lot of people in Lodz and Warsaw and, over a span of about 4 years, some relationships have stuck and some have ended: 1:1.

One major concern is moving back to the homeland. Unfortunatley, if your Polish wife plans to look for a job she will be hopelessly outranked, no matter how beautiful and intelligent she is. Waiting tables or being a bartender at a nightclub will land good cash but that work is crap. So when the crossroads come and you have to go back home, hopefully the man will have something in place to set up the family so there is not as much stress on the Polish girl to get a job.

Sorry to have to disagree (slightly), I'm back home with my wife now and in the UK there are about 400,000 Poles here. My wife has a job that pays well, at a good company, a job she could never have got in Poland's nepotistic job market. She has worked with other Poles at her level & My school has Polish students living here earning a bomb in good jobs. They don't make up the majority of Poles here but they're not a small minority. I don't know about the US though. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Yes, Polish Girls are hot. Here is some good advice: Never bring anything home that you can't put in your suitcase. Ignore this at your own peril. Of course next time I am over will most probably break this rule.

Unfortunately, British girls are distressingly becoming more and more man-like, We also have a phenomenom you'd more than likely recognise as whitetrash. The Chav. (Council House And Violence) On any given weekend you will see a large amount of extremely drunk women (and men) eating the greasiest of kebabs, at least an inch of fat hanging over the waist of an impossibly small skirt, unless they're skinnny then their skirt will be so far down on their hips you have to ask why they've bothered. There will be a loud argument, at some point a fight will ensue, finally the police will turn up to be shouted at and eventually about 20% of the women will throw up in the street.

It's noy just the chavs though, we went out for a drink with my wife's friends from work and their international director was there. She got so drunk trying to beat the men drinking with her that she could barely walk. Come Monday she walked into work as if it had been a great night out. This is an intelligent woman, with a very good job who feels that she won't be accepted by the men around her unless she acts like the worst incarnation of them.

It is hilarious from one point of view but very very sad from another. My wife has been here a year and ahe's been drunk once, at home. She, like her Polish friends, will snaffle a bottle of Vodka over the course of an evening, but she won't down it in 3, then head out to the pubs. When she's had enough she switches to water, when she's hungry she waits until she gets home and eats something other than a grease laden snack. This to me is the difference between Polish girls and Brits (I'm not that au fait with American girls).

The problem people have at first in Poland is that they don't realise that they're living in an environment where women treat themselves with respect. I liked it. It was refreshing.

I've been working around British teachers for the last four years and I've noticed that British women have it going on too.

I don't so much see them as chavs as much as I can't understand why these women always need to try to compete with men, for example in situations like drinking.

But I do have to admit that when I was in Poland there were certain qualities that I did sometimes miss about American girls. For better or worse American girls do like to get things done with or without a man's help.

I remember one Polish lady who I had asked to help me move some chairs and she flatly refused, saying it was a man's job.

My point is if you do date a Polish lady, you do have to keep in mind that although she accepts her role graciously she expects you to do the same and unless you're a Polish man that might take some getting used to.

I'll agree with you on that. It was a bit strange at first but, to be honest, the more I got used to it the better it got. I'm not sexist (that I'm aware of) but finding myself not being frowned on for holding a door open, putting up a shelf, fixing a tap etc. was refreshing. My wife expected me to take care of those things and it was strangely satisfying to be relied upon. I soon learned this didn't extend to housework though.

British girls went down the wrong path entirely. I blame Margaret Thatcher. Wink The main problem is that women have an extremely warped view of what it is to be a man; if you take their actions to be an indicator of what they think being a man is then it goes like this.

Men drink too much
Men get into fights
Men throw up in the street
Men only talk about sex

Now in England 'Lads' act this way, not men. So the real term is 'Ladette'. So, when a girl acts this way (and many do) they're merely copying 'Lad' culture, which is purile at best. Imagine if all Polish women started acting like Poland's famous 'Adidas Boys'.

The reason Polish girls are "hot", not just physically but in terms of their personality too, is their comfort with being a woman and comfort with a man to have a specific role that they have no desire to imitate.[/quote]
