Hello there you happy Taiwan teachers Very Happy I was recently in contact with this eager fellow. He was polite and encouraged me about coming to teach in a Public or Private school (not a for profit after school job). I believe he motioned I might be at two schools and would need to get a scooter to transport during the midday. The pay was around two grand a month... I think it was dependent on some teacher background factors...

At any rate, can someone tell me if this fellow is an honest and goodly individual in his hiring and employments? He seems friendly and earnest enough in our email correspondence.

Please only say true things about him as I have listed his name. If you must you can PM me too...

I am seriously considering modern warmer Taiwan even if Id make more back in Korea as a Level 1 2.5k EPIK Beowulf Hero come from across the sea... (Who rides bicycles and snorkels in Taiwan...?)

..... the info:

David Huang

Hey all these writs below sound very positive! Very Happy Wow you'd think I was working for them posting this... but it all sounds great. Anyone care to comment? Maybe I should not post this or you all will take every job John Dewey Int. is offering. (No I am not being paid by them nor do I work for them, but my plane did stop in Taiwan on the way from Korea... Laughing )

'From the moment I began dealing with Andrew & David from the John Dewey International Education agency, I was impressed by their enthusiasm and energy. David was immensely instrumental in getting me the position I wanted. He was very supportive even after I was hired and he continues to be helpful.
One of the reasons I decided to deal with the John Dewey consultants initially was that I was not charged any fees for simply being referred to a position. I was further impressed by the professionalism and cheerfulness of everyone I dealt with at the John Dewey Agency.'

'I have found David and Andrew to be both trustworthy and honest when dealing with foreigners here in Taiwan.

With the help of this agency I was able to secure a good job that was right for me at the given time and am pleased to say that I have had no real problems throughout the contract that is about to expire in one months time.

I find also with the backing and support of an agency especially here in Taiwan you are less likely to be taken for a ride by employers. Throughout the year I have been contacted occassionally by email to ask how I was getting on at the school, and that was very nice, and the school they found for me I must say the boss is a very good and a nice man.

So have been very satisfied, keep up the good work Dewey! Simply the best.'

'I contacted this company while I was still in South Africa. They supported me all the way. They organized job interviews for me and all I had to do was to impress my future employers with my South African skills. The Teachers from South Africa are well trained and are in demand in Taiwan, although the South African accent may be a small problem. I could not do without the assistance from this company and I am very grateful for the service I got from them.'

'David from Dewey Career services is an excellent contact to have for any foreign teacher in Taiwan. When I first moved to Taiwan almost a year ago David was the first person I contacted in regards to finding work here. He can help teachers all over the island, and provides a 100% free service to teachers. David has helped me find work twice, and the schools and I are a great match. I believe that David truly cares about the teachers and schools he helps, and because he cares for their best interest everyone finds the job or employee that they need. He is always east to contact and is very friendly and helpful. David goes beyond his job to help people feel confident and satisfied. I really appreciate his help, and I know that he will continue to do an amazing job in the future.'

You need to post more details about the job. It sounds like it could be illegal work in some way.

I've dealt with this company, and with David, a few times. They're on the level, but you still have to be on your guard because the schools may not be. Such was my experience. One school frucked me over, but another (my current employer) has been great.

Finding a decent employer in Taiwan is a crap shoot.

Do a search. This company and this guy (I think) come up fairly regularly.

mmm cool thanks the main thing I did not want to find out later was that my pay was 10 percent less as that 10 went to my job finder... but he sounded kind and legit... I may email him when / if I make it out of Latin America...

I'm pretty sure that Dewey doesn't charge their teachers, so you should be fine in that regard.

I'd find out how FAR you will have to scooter between two schools. That might not be something you want to do. Working at two schools is also very likely illegal.

You can look at Buxiban.com for other options. Reach To Teach is another good option.

I know for a fact that they do not charge the teacher. If the OP is in any doubt, simply ask David Huang.
