I've done that on occasion. And a jinbei too. But I still haven't mustered enough courage to wear my Sri Lankan sarong out in public.... Though I know a New Zealander who wears his around all the time. Though if I were Scottish, I'd probably have no qualms about wearing a kilt in public..... |

I've worn them at onsens mainly. Beyond that, I'd feel okay doing it once in awhile just for laughs, as long as it's not in a really busy part of Tokyo or something . Though even then, beyond a lot of stares, and a few suppressed grins, I doubt most Japanese would really care about it.
They sure do look comfy on a hot day though...  |
